To the one handed argument, I often drive one handed, and if I'm taking things easy, I've never had issues. I have noticed if I start driving harder, then cornering on less than smooth roads begins to cause troubles that disappear completely just by having two hands on the wheel (have tested both ways many times at one particular roundabout that has a nasty bump right in the middle). I think the change in arm positions just makes you naturally grip the wheel much more firmly.

Hmm, my domains seem to have remained up all day, but my cPanel access has also expired. Was showing the trial licence warning the past few weeks.
Graduated driver licencing (UK)

So there's talk of trying to change the UK driving licence to a more graduated system, as used in some places in the world.

Information here: http://www.brake.org.uk/graduated-licensing

Source article: http://www.confused.com/featur ... 23May&utm_content=May

I'll not paste the bullet point changes here as some of them do make more sense if you read the explanations in full, so please take a moment to read it all before letting rageful opinions fly out of your fingers.

==============================================

My opinion, I very much like the concept in general, and think the system here in general is not up to scratch and can be easily mis-used. I'll happily admit I was a poor driver for my about first year (and despite passing at 18, I was 23 by the time I bought a car), there is clearly no substitute for sufficient experience.

I do think some of the suggested changes have issues though:

A) One year of driving before you can take the theory and hazard perception test? Sorry but it's crap we can even take to the roads before we potentially even know what any of the signs mean. I say the theory tests should be passed before you can even apply for a provisional driving licence.

B) Don't see the point of mandating professional tuition. Someone who has never driven before is going to be bad no matter who is telling them what they're doing wrong.

C) What does an accompanying driver need to be registered for? Exactly what would make someone unsuitable? And that still doesn't stop the observer from being under the influence, which makes anyone unsuitable.

D) The novice driver night time curfew. I think this is overkill. I think the Californian system of just requiring an older supervisor is sufficient.

E) No driving on motorways. This is senseless. They're easy, safe, time saving, and how are you ever supposed to know how to use them without driving on them? Maybe require supervision but don't even think that is necessary.

F) Engine size restriction. Good idea, poorly executed. A 900cc bike engined Caterham will piss all over a 2.2 litre van. Limit by power to weight.

G) Second driving test - best idea. Personally I'd like to see continuous re-tests as being mandatory for all ages, although only once per decade. Bad habits form and you need to be checked on so you can correct your driving errs before you become a danger.

What are your thoughts?

Actually I think balls are rather more important.

From my own testing, I think the tyres in LFS lost too much friction when overly hot or cold but also heat and cool too slowly, so the actual friction change while driving around normally might not be too far off (though I've not seen any data on this topic) but it's more than likely quite wrong once tyres are left to become ambient temperature (a reason for the pre-heating?) or when you're drifting.

What would you do with them all?

If you're engine braking downhill, the clutch should only wear if you downshift for nicreased braking, and you can reduce that massively by blipping the throttle appropriately for rev matching.

Nice, then you can teach your mini-me about feedback too. Good luck explaining that one.

bbman should be right though, it's usually just a case of unmuting the mic input in the output portion of the mixer.

Noise from the engine would be similar but the noise from the exhaust should be very different.

I don't think anyone wants you to avoid having holidays. You just need someone to cover in your absense.

Don't know why the figures are all so low now though? I'm sure they all used to be in the millions...

Over 48 hours downtime on the web/email server(s), assuming this is something quite serious again now? I was hoping we were past such troubles. Nameservers appear offline, haven't got the direct IPs written down to see if it's just a resolution issue.

All sites currently offline, hoping this is just the temporary on/offs you were talking about?

Quote from S14 DRIFT :Clearly that didn't apply to anyone who worked on the physics of Ferrari Challenge on the PS3.

I didn't work on that one. That was the ugliness I started off with though, I ended up with what you've got in NASCAR 2011.

No, it's because when I saw thread the thread I was like "ooh, Download festival" instead of being in moderator mode and being out to deal with content that against the rules. You forget I mainly browse this forum out of interest, not out of wanting to help keep it in order.

Thank you for pointing it out though. Are you now happy with consistency of moderation?

Morning Dean.

Last few days, cPanel had been showing that message about being a trial version and about to expire. This morning it's telling me it's not licenced at all. You're usually aware of this, but if not, could you take a look see? Ta.

Quote from Keling :BTW, how the FFB feels in rFactor completely depends on the mod (and RealFeel, if you use it).

You'd likely get the same thing in LFS if it allowed user generated content. Vehicle physics should be left to those who know what they are doing, or those who are serious about learning it.

Sorry, already going and tickets are sorted. Maybe I should pack my LFS T-shirt and see who I can bump into from here?

Incidentally, I'm concerned... our tickets haven't arrived yet. :S

Yes, same IP and same browser. That of course doesn't rule out two people using the same computer though.

Quote from lemming77 :I think the idea, particularly with the road cars in the game, is that the default setup resembles how the car would behave when it left the factory.

I can assure you, that is not currently the case. LXs aside, the cars are all way too stiff for starters.
